I had the opportunity to serve as a guest speaker for the Garrett Morgan Competition: Transportation Career Spotlight, a virtual webinar hosted by the Mineta Transportation Institute (MTI). The session highlighted the people working behind the scenes to make our streets, bikeways, and sidewalks safer for everyone — and the many pathways that lead into transportation careers.
This year’s Garrett Morgan theme, “Ride On, Ride Safe—E‑Bike Style!”, centers youth voices and peer‑to‑peer safety campaigns. The webinar gave students a chance to connect their projects to real‑world transportation impacts, especially in the growing world of bikes and e‑bikes.
